Product Description
As the long-time best-seller, Garrison has helped guide close to 2 million students through the challenging waters of managerial accounting since it was first published. It identifies the three functions managers must perform within their organizations—plan operations, control activities, and make decisions—and explains what accounting information is necessary for these functions, how to collect it, and how to interpret it. To achieve this, Managerial Accounting, 12/E, focuses, now as in the past, on three qualities:
Relevance. Every effort is made to help students relate the concepts in this book to the decisions made by working managers. With insightful chapter openers, the popular Managerial Accounting in Action segments within the chapters, and stimulating end-of-chapter exercises, a student reading Garrison should never have to ask “Why am I learning this?”

Balance. There’s more than one type of business, and so Garrison covers a variety of business models, including not-for-profit, retail, service, and wholesale organizations as well as manufacturing. In the twelfth edition, service company examples are highlighted with icons in the margins of the text.

Clarity. Generations of students have praised Garrison for the friendliness and readability of its writing, but that’s just the beginning. Technical discussions have been simplified, material has been reordered, and the entire book carefully retuned to make teaching—and learning—from Garrison as easy as it can be. In addition, the supplements package is written by Garrison, Noreen, and Brewer, ensuring that students and professors will work with clear, well-written supplements that employ consistent terminology.

Editorial Reviews for ISBN 9780077300333 It's cool uh?
Product Description
Libby/Libby/Short wrote this text based on their belief that the subject of financial accounting is inherently interesting, but financial accounting textbooks are often not. They believe most financial accounting textbooks fail to demonstrate that accounting is an exciting field of study and one that is important to future careers in business. When writing this text, they considered career relevance as their guide when selecting material, and the need to engage the student as their guide to style, pedagogy, and design. Libby/Libby/Short is the only financial accounting text to successfully implement a real-world, single focus company approach in every chapter. Students and instructors have responded very favorably to the use of focus companies and the real-world financial statements. The companies chosen are engaging and the decision-making focus shows the relevance of financial accounting regardless of whether or not the student has chosen to major in accounting.

About the Author
Robert Libby is the David A. Thomas Professor of Management at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, where he teaches the introductory financial accounting course. He previously taught at the University of Illinois, Pennsylvania State University, University of Texas at Austin, University of Chicago, and University of Michigan. He received his B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and his M.A.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois; he is also a CPA. Bob is a widely published author specializing in behavioral accounting. He was selected as the AAA Outstanding Educator in 2000. His prior text, Accounting and Human Information Processing (Prentice Hall, 1981), was awarded the AICPA/AAA Notable Contributions to the Accounting Literature Award. He received this award again in 1996 for a paper. He has published numerous articles in the Journal of Accounting Research; Accounting, Organizations, and Society; and other accounting journals. He is past Vice President-Publications of the American Accounting Association and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the editorial boards of The Accounting Review; Accounting, Organizations, and Society; Journal of Accounting Literature; and Journal of Behavioral Decision Making.

Patricia Libby is Chair of the Department of Accounting and Associate Professor of Accounting at Ithaca College, where she teaches the undergraduate financial accounting course. Pat conducts research on using cases in the introductory course and other parts of the accounting curriculum. ISBN 9780324658040 Auditing: A Business Risk Approach (with ACL CD-ROM) (Hardcover

Editorial Reviews for ISBN 9780324658040
Review
"The textbook appears to be written by an auditing scholar with relevant field auditing experience as opposed to many auditing textbooks which are written by scholars who write what they "think" is occurring in the field."

"I like the overriding theme of business risk approach, the emphasis on the technological environment. It also is critically important, especially in today's rapidly changing environment, to stay current with the regulatory and legal environment of the audit. The movement toward the Integrated Audit also fits in well with the other themes."

"Overall, I am pleased with the approach and balance of the Rittenberg text and plan to continue using it."

"These themes are comprehensive of the issues facing auditing today, and they are the right themes to include in this textbook."

"The authors' emphasis on the regulatory environment, the importance of understanding the organization and its environment along with related risks, the integrated approach to auditing, and the impact of technology to the auditing profession are right on target. COSO has been emphasizing the integrated audit for decades now and it is finally catching on."

Product Description

Review
"I very much like the [transaction] format and I think students find it intuitive. It does a nice job of highlighting the preservation of the balance sheet identity as transactions are recorded."

"I like the book's emphasis on the accounting process and the use of journal entries / T-accounts for representing transactions. It is for precisely this emphasis that we continue to prescribe this textbook."

"Generally I like this text very much. It is easy to read (never complaints from my students) and it is at a slightly more advanced level than most other introductory texts, making it perfect for an MBA program that wishes to teach or have the option to touch on one or more of these more advanced topics."
